Glamorous Holiday Look from Chico’s

Most of my holiday gatherings and events will undoubtedly be on the more casual side. And I’m actually sharing some casual holiday outfits next week. But today I’m making reservations at a nice restaurant where we’ve wanted to dine, and I’m planning a little Christmas dinner and outing for two. And I’m saving today’s glamorous holiday look for that very evening!

Today’s blog post is not sponsored, but I did indeed get {almost} everything in this glamorous holiday outfit from Chico’s. I love it when you can find everything you need in one place. And Chico’s definitely knows how to raise the bar and create a little sparkle. Their holiday collection this year is full of deep and moody, but also vibrant and sparkling separates.

Red and Black Dress for Semi-Formal Holiday Parties

My red and black rose-print velvet midi dress ensemble is perfect for a holiday performance such as the Nutcracker ballet or a Christmas pops concert. But it would also be beautifully appropriate for a semi-formal winter wedding. And I’m just planning to wear it out for a special dinner with my husband. So I think it’s quite versatile. In fact, I know many people who dress up this much for Christmas Eve services.

The rose-print velvet midi dress works true to size for a body skimming fit. I’m wearing a Chico’s 1, which is equivalent to a misses 8-10. And I did wear this slip underneath for comfort and ease of movement.

Shoes and Hose

I chose to wear very sheer black hose, but I have no idea what brand they are. But I know these would be good. And since I wasn’t thrilled with the ones I’m showing the day I wore them, I’ve ordered these Wolfords, which are supposed to be amazing and last forever. And yeah, they better for that price! I wore my black Sarah Flint perfect pumps, but black suede pumps would work nicely here, too. The Sarah Flints are pricey, but they’re gorgeous. If you’re interested, use code SARAHFLINT-BAKAYH for $50 off your first pair. And you’ll find lots of more economical options here.

Travel Wrap

I wore Chico’s cashmere and wool blend travel wrap to ward off the chill. I actually had my black wool blend coat in the car, but decided to show the outfit with the wrap instead. Really if I’m just going quickly from the car to the venue, I can usually handle the extreme cold with just a wrap. But if you needed something warmer, your own black coat would work or you could check out this faux leather topper shown with the dress on Chico’s website.

Jewelry

Chico’s is one of my go-to sources for impactful costume jewelry. I had fun selecting three different pieces that don’t match but do go together. I like that the glitz multi strand necklace breaks up the print in the dress some, while the shimmery front to back hoop earrings add sparkle around my face. Neither is heavy. And the pearls on the black and gold tone stretch bracelet makes it look just a bit unique. (Please ignore the plastic tag holder on the bracelet. I neglected to cut it off before leaving the house and didn’t want to tear up the bracelet yanking it off.)

Jewelry
Sequin Bucket Bag

Finally, I’m carrying this party-ready sequin bucket bag for my essentials. Isn’t it fun??? The bag is just the right size for lipstick, glasses, card case, mints and tissues. It features a snap closure and the chain strap that can be lengthened for a crossbody.

Blessed for My Day

Sometimes when I’m going through a hard season I have to just put my head down and plow through…with a three-pronged plan. In those seasons when you’re doing all you can just to keep moving, you just can’t add another thing to your plate. So instead of trying to make things better or fix the other people involved, follow my lead.

First, choose hope. Determine to rejoice in the Lord each time despair begins to set in. Second, choose patience. Trust that God is at work and that while this trial seems large, looming and lasting, it is actually just a season. Things will change, so be patient. Then finally, pray. Instead of having conversations in your (that never happened and never will happen), pray. Instead of complaining to a friend or family member, pray. And instead of worrying, pray. Need help remembering this plan? Write Romans 12:12 on a card and keep it with you. That’s the plan in a nutshell!

Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. ~ Romans 12:12

xoxo, Kay
